الملخص
Multiple African Union representatives and officials from various countries are gathering in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to participate in the AU Assembly Summit. The theme of the summit is the Acceleration of African Continental Free Trade Area Implementation, otherwise known as AfCFTA. Discussions will center on how to fast-track implementation of AfCFTA to benefit Africa's population, and will focus on challenges such as regional agreements and women's rights. 45 signatories have ratified the AfCFTA Agreement with only 9 left. Furthermore, the UK is supporting the AU to implement the AfCFTA with tracking systems to protect citizens and their cargo, while events such as the Tanzanian Women Workshop and the AU Youth Town Hall Meeting are being held to engage with the youth. The Comoros has also made an historic move by ratifying the AfCFTA agreement. Despite challenges, including motivating the youth, the African private sector and marginalized youth, the AfCFTA could have a positive effect in terms of trade and industrialization, reducing poverty and inequality, and creating 14 million jobs in Africa.
