How to vet a crypto KOL before you pay

What to look at, in what order, and the numbers that end a conversation. The free checker runs all of this on one handle in five seconds.

What a bot score is, and is not

It scores the account, not the audience

The check reads the account itself: how its following compares to its followers, how old it is, how hard it posts, what its bio does. It does not open the follower list. Whether the 80,000 followers behind a KOL are real is a separate job, and it needs the list pulled and every row scored.

It is a score out of 100, not a percentage

The model returns a position on a scale, not a probability that the account is a bot. A 70 is further along the scale than a 40. It is not a claim that seven in ten of anything is fake.

The signals are shown, so you can disagree

Every check lists what pushed the score up and what pulled it down. A new account that posts hard looks like a bot to a model and like a launch to you, and you are the one who can tell the difference.

The order to do it in

  1. 1 Check the KOL account first. A high score with a follow ratio near one and an account opened this year is the cheapest no you will ever get.
  2. 2 Then the audience. One 2026 vetting guide puts the walk-away line at 30% inauthentic followers, and that is an audience number, so it needs the follower list scored.
  3. 3 Then engagement. Under 1.5% on an account over 100,000 followers, with no explanation, is the other flag our model raises.
  4. 4 Ask for the handle before the invoice, not after. The check takes five seconds and a thread does not.

The numbers behind each check

Account age

A join date inside the last 90 days is a red flag against any large following. Under a year is worth a question.

Follow ratio

Under 0.1 followers per following is the follow-for-follow pattern: thousands followed, almost nobody back.

Posting rate

Around 72 posts a day is three an hour sustained, which no person keeps up. Near zero on a large account is its own question.

Engagement rate

Average likes, reposts and replies per original post, divided by followers. Under 1.5% on an account over 100,000 followers is where our model flags it. Author reposts are excluded: they carry the original author’s numbers.

List memberships

Real accounts accumulate list memberships over years. A large account in zero lists is unusual and awkward to fake quickly.

Profile completeness

Default avatar, empty bio, no location, no link. Weak signals alone, damning when they stack with the rest.

Questions

How do I check if a crypto influencer has fake followers?

Two steps, and they answer different questions. Checking the account itself is free here and takes five seconds: paste the handle and read the score and the signals. Checking the audience means pulling the follower list and scoring every account in it, which is a paid pull.

What bot share should make me walk away from a KOL deal?

One 2026 influencer vetting guide draws the line at 30% inauthentic followers: "Above 30% is a red flag worth walking away from." That is an audience number, so it needs the follower audit rather than the single-account check. Our own model also flags engagement under 1.5% on an account above 100,000 followers.

Is the checker free?

The single-account check is free and needs no account, because the model is ours and runs on our own hardware. Checking a list needs an account, with the first 10 free and $0.06 per account after that. The follower audit is priced per account pulled.

Can I check a list of handles before an airdrop?

Yes. Paste or upload the handles and they come back scored in one pass with a CSV. The largest single list we have run is 601 accounts. Linking an X account proves nothing on its own, which is the gap this closes.

What does the score actually mean?

It is a position on a scale from 0 to 100, not a probability. The model reads the account shape: follower-to-following ratio, account age, posting volume, bio and name. Every check shows which signals moved the score, so a founder with a new account and a hard posting schedule can be read as what they are.

Do you store the handles I check?

We keep the score and the public profile numbers behind it to improve the model. We do not need your email for a single check and we do not ask for it.

Run it on a handle

Free, no account, about five seconds.
