Lin et al. published a quantitative trait locus (QTL) in NewPhyt@wileyplantsci, showing that flood tolerance in deepwater rice is promoted by the formation of two distinct aquatic adventitious root types. IRRI/South Asia Regional Center organized an export-oriented training program showcasing value-added rice-based food systems. In addition, Intensive Genomic Selection & Modern Experimental Design Analysis was conducted in India with ICAR members attending. Pimpudi Basa, a local rice variety in Odisha, was highlighted. IRRI also held a two-week training program and revival meeting with UPSLB and SEARCA, as well as a learning visit to Bangladesh where members from multiple nations participated. Additionally, CIGAR members worked on breaking data analysis, trait discovery, and national partnerships in 2021. In addition, a geospatial modeling study in Haryana, India, was conducted to explore less water-intensive methods of growing rice. There is also an emphasis on gender inclusion in this research to overcome the various barriers preventing women from owning land and accessing training.
