Police Scotland is looking for a new leader of the Violence Reduction Unit and are sending the opportunity to excellent candidates. The unit has recently made visits and has noticed a great sense of community, connection and hope for the future. There is a belief that more data and evidence should be shared so that responses to violence and trauma can be more effective. The new leader is wanted to create, invigorate and drive change, and be compassionate and collaborative. The problem with relying on politicians for change has been recognized, with civil society needing to come together to create different infrastructure and pathways for young people. Substance abuse awareness workshops were held and well received, with a guest speaker talking about lived experiences. One Community Scotland recently was awarded a Bravery and Excellence award by the Chief Constable. Communities hold the power to create change but need the right kind of support and belief in order to do so.
