The World Food Programme (WFP) in Afghanistan distributes pulses such as yellow split peas and beans to provide nutrition in the form of proteins, iron, vitamins, and folate, as well as wheat flour, vegetable oil, and salt. An additional 100,000 metric tons of pulses were distributed in 2022 and 23 million people were reached in 2021. There are concerns about the transparency of the distributions and about its efficacy in providing for the most vulnerable Afghan families.
