Resumen
Today a private tour was given to Portland Parks and Recreation Park Rangers to introduce their new staff to Black History and discuss how to interact with diverse members of the community. Charles Jordan was Portland's first Black City Commissioner and worked with parks and recreation for 14 years. Some other current activities involving Parks and Recreation include 'In My Shoes' walks, Volunteering, and recruiting for full-time, part-time and seasonal work. There is an Eagle Caddie Program offering summer employment as well as scholarship opportunities at the University of Oregon. Lastly, issues such as campfires in O'Brien Square and Portland's record with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion were also discussed.
