Pakistan's cumulative debt had reached near 4 trillion rupees in 2018 which the Tehreek-e-Insaf government increased to 44 trillion rupees by raising it by 20 trillion rupees in four years. Khawaja Asif admitted this fact. Furthermore, the deterioration of economic conditions has been harsh on the public, resulting in 9 crore Pakistanis going below the line of poverty. The stock exchange capitalization had reached to 100 trillion rupees on the termination of the PML-N government which the incumbent government was unable to uplift and only raised the amount by 26 trillion rupees. The current government has advised to reduce costs for items like sugar and cooking oil for the people and a mini budget has been proposed in the Senate. Furthermore, Minister of Finance Ishaq Dar is under fire for being unable to bring the economy of the country back on track.
