A national workshop on the draft policy on mitigation measures to prevent soil erosion and rehabilitation of displaced persons due to soil erosion began on February 17 at Symphony Hall, Muscat Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram. This is jointly organized by the National Disaster Management Authority and State Disaster Management Authority. Sessions include discussing programme on mitigation measures in the coastal areas, rehabilitation and resettlement of people affected by erosion, programme for rehabilitation measures in coastal areas and rivers, policies for rehabilitation measures and proposals on policy, based on experiences. Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event and Chief Secretary, V P Joy, NDRFHQ, NIDMMA, PIB Home Affairs, Airnews TV and DD Malayalam will be present.
