A variety of experts are exploring different ways to improve endoscopy training via new publications. There is a fee to submit abstracts which can be a barrier to research talent from lower income countries. The right combination of caution and the right tools is necessary for moving forward. There is a study which indicates that sleeping on the left side is as effective as medication for acid reflux. Abstract submissions should be free and reviewers should be blinded. Pass-fail medical school grading disadvantages students from smaller schools who may not have access to research supervisors.
